Program XERF: what to know before an assessment
Program XERF is a physician-planned monopolar radiofrequency treatment. The manufacturer guide describes plans for the face, under-chin area, forehead and neck, but the area and shot plan are adjusted to anatomy, skin condition and treatment history. It must not be used in a person with a pacemaker, implanted defibrillator or another implanted electrical device.

Assessment, not a fixed package
What the manufacturer guide adds to the consultation
The plan follows anatomy
The guide separates the midface, lower face, under-chin area, forehead and neck. It also distinguishes faces with less volume from fuller facial anatomy. These are planning inputs, not fixed packages that suit everyone.
Shot count is context, not a result promise
The guide uses approximately 600 shots as a full-face reference and approximately 300 for half face. A number alone does not describe the treatment area, depth plan, previous procedures or individual suitability.
Comfort is monitored during treatment
The guide describes moderate warmth as the expected sensation and instructs the operator to adjust the plan when an area is uncomfortable or sensitive. Individual sensation varies and should be communicated during the session.
Assessment comes before treatment
The guide requires discussion of options, risks, benefits, possible complications and variable outcomes, together with written consent and a detailed clinical history. Treatment is limited to clean, healthy, intact skin.
Aftercare follows the clinician plan
Mild to moderate redness is listed as a possible immediate endpoint. Follow the clinic-specific aftercare instructions and contact the clinic if a reaction is unexpected; do not improvise with cooling or ice unless the treating clinician directs it.
Safety gate
Tell the doctor before a plan is made
Share implants, previous procedures and current skin conditions before choosing an area or shot plan. The first item below is a manufacturer-listed contraindication, not a preference.
Disclose before treatment
Pacemaker, implanted defibrillator or another implanted electrical device
Why it changes the plan
The guide lists this as a contraindication. Program XERF is not performed.
Botulinum toxin or filler in the area within the past four weeks
Timing and suitability require medical review because recently injected tissue can respond differently.
Fat or skin graft in the area within the past six months
The guide lists this as a caution that requires medical judgement before proceeding.
Previous HIFU or liposuction in the same area
Treatment history can change the plan and must be reviewed before booking.
Melasma, cosmetic tattoo, facial tattoo, tanning or sun-damaged skin
These factors change the treatment map or may require postponement after assessment.
Neck treatment or dental appliances and implants near the area
The thyroid and vocal-cord region is excluded, and nearby dental work must be included in the comfort and safety plan.
Before an assessment
Questions patients ask
Is 600 shots always the right XERF plan?
No. The manufacturer guide uses approximately 600 shots as a full-face reference and approximately 300 for half face, while also describing customized plans by anatomy. The number should follow the assessed area and plan rather than be chosen as a stand-alone dose.
What history should I share before Program XERF?
Share implanted electrical devices first, then dates and areas for injectables, grafts, HIFU or liposuction. Also mention melasma, facial or cosmetic tattoos, recent tanning or sun damage, skin irritation, cold sores and nearby dental appliances or implants.
Should I stop skincare or medicine before XERF?
Bring a complete list to the assessment. The guide flags irritating topical agents and some medicines as relevant, but you should not stop prescribed medicine on your own. The treating clinician should give product-specific and medicine-specific instructions.
What should Program XERF feel like?
The manufacturer guide describes moderate warmth, but comfort varies by person and area. Tell the operator when an area feels uncomfortable or unusually sensitive so the clinician can reassess the plan.

Prepare for a useful consultation
Start with your history, area and goal
Tell the clinic about previous injectables, energy treatments, implants and the exact area you want assessed. The doctor can then discuss whether Program XERF belongs in the plan.
