Ultraformer MPT — Korean Micro Pulsed HIFU Lifting

The next-generation MMFU platform from Classys. MP mode lays 417 thermal points per shot (vs 17 in conventional HIFU) for a denser, smoother lift — faster and generally more comfortable, with minimal downtime.

    Concern-first comparison

Choose by the problem, not the device name.

A similar-looking concern can come from laxity, volume, fat, muscle or skin quality. The assessment should identify the cause before discussing a device or shot count.

    01

    Jawline or lower-face laxity

Ask which layer and area are being assessed, which areas should be treated or avoided, and how the plan protects existing facial volume.

    02

    Fullness under the chin

Clarify whether the main issue is fat, skin laxity, anatomy or a combination. Focused ultrasound is not the same answer for every cause.

    03

    Hollowing or volume loss

A tightening device may not address the main concern and can require a different or staged plan. Tell the doctor which facial volume you want to preserve.

    04

    Flight, work or an event

Share the date before booking. Tenderness, redness or swelling vary, so the plan and recovery buffer should fit your schedule.

    How MPT works

Ultraformer MPT uses MMFU — micro and macro focused ultrasound. Sound waves converge on a focal point below the skin without breaking the surface. At that point the energy becomes heat of 65–75°C, creating a small thermal coagulation point. The tissue there contracts, and collagen remodelling follows over the weeks after.

What separates MPT from earlier HIFU is MP (Micro Pulsed) mode. Along a single 25 mm shot line it places 417 thermal coagulation points rather than a handful of widely spaced ones. Each point is roughly 0.5–1 mm across, spaced 0.5–2 mm apart.

That density means heat accumulates across an area instead of arriving as isolated high-intensity spikes, rather than as isolated high-intensity spikes. Sensation during treatment varies between individuals.

At its deepest the energy reaches the SMAS — the superficial muscular aponeurotic system, the same layer a surgeon pulls on during a facelift. The difference is that MPT reaches it with sound rather than with an incision.

    Transducer depths

Each cartridge fires at one fixed depth. Changing depth means changing the cartridge, not turning a dial — so the cartridges used are what determine which layer the energy actually reached. It is worth asking before you book.

The micro cartridges (1.5–4.5 mm) create coagulation points around 0.5 mm across. The macro cartridges (6.0–13.0 mm) create points around 1 mm across and carry roughly eight times the energy per point, which is why they are used on the body rather than on superficial facial areas.

    Normal mode and MP mode

Normal mode fires discrete points at a set spacing — the pattern earlier HIFU platforms use. It puts more heat into each individual point and suits work that needs decisive contraction, such as treating the SMAS.

MP mode fires rapidly and continuously along the same line, so heat accumulates across the area rather than concentrating at points. It suits broad areas and is generally the more comfortable of the two.

In practice the two are combined in one session: Normal at 4.5 mm to work the SMAS, then MP at 3.0 mm to cover the broader area. The balance between them is the doctor’s clinical judgement, not a fixed recipe.

The Ultra-Booster is a pen-type handpiece that emits in a circular pattern at 1.5, 3.0 and 4.5 mm in either mode. It is normally the final step, reaching curved or narrow areas the standard handpieces cannot sit flat against.

Example protocols from the manufacturer’s clinical book

A shot count on its own tells you very little. Three hundred shots at 4.5 mm and three hundred at 1.5 mm cost the same and do entirely different work. The protocols below are recorded in the Classys clinical book and are reproduced to show how shots are actually distributed across depths.

    Lower face and nasolabial folds

    • 4.5 mm, Normal and MP mode, 100 shots
    • 3.0 mm, Normal and MP mode, 200 shots
    • 2.0 mm, Normal mode, 200 shots

    Submental area and jawline

    • 6.0 mm, MP mode, 100 shots
    • 4.5 mm, Normal mode, 150 shots
    • 3.0 mm, Normal and MP mode, 75 shots each
    • 2.0 mm, Normal mode, 200 shots

    Jowls and nasolabial folds

    • 4.5 mm, Normal and MP mode, 100 shots each
    • 3.0 mm, Normal mode, 150 shots
    • 2.0 mm, Normal and MP mode, 100 shots each

Booster step with the Ultra-Booster handpiece

    • 3.0 mm, MP mode, 300 shots
    • 1.5 mm, MP mode, 300 shots

These are examples from the manufacturer’s documentation, not a menu. Your doctor sets depth, mode and shot count from your skin and facial structure. The same book assesses results at four and eight weeks after treatment, which matches the time collagen remodelling takes.

    How long it takes

The manufacturer’s documentation gives 15–20 minutes for a face or neck area and 40–60 minutes for body contouring. Actual time depends on the shot count and how many areas are treated in the session, and excludes consultation and the wait for topical anaesthetic to take effect.

Contraindications — when this treatment is not suitable

The following are listed as contraindications in the device operation manual. If any applies to you, tell the doctor before booking.

    • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
    • Open wounds on the face or neck
    • Severe or chronic inflammatory acne on the face or neck
    • Metal threads or implants in the face or neck
    • Bio-absorbable dental implants
    • Skin conditions that affect wound healing
    • Vascular disorders or disorders of blood clotting

Precautions — when it needs assessing first

These are not automatic exclusions, but the manual directs that they be assessed beforehand. The doctor may adapt the plan, postpone, or suggest something else.

    • Taking anticoagulant or antiplatelet medication
    • A history of herpes simplex in the area to be treated
    • Cardiac disease, diabetes or hypertension that is not yet controlled
    • Skin disease or a skin abnormality in the treatment area
    • Altered sensation in the area to be treated
    • Raised or hypertrophic scarring — the manual directs that energy not be delivered directly over it

    Possible side effects

The treatment does not break the skin surface and most patients return to normal activity the same day. The manual records the following.

    • Swelling at the treated area (edema), generally settling within about a week
    • Redness at the treated area (erythema), generally settling within a few hours
    • Discomfort or a sharp sensation while energy is being delivered; how strongly this is felt varies between individuals

Your care plan for Ultraformer MPT Program

Research-informed guidance for this treatment type. Your doctor’s written plan after assessment always takes priority.

    Before your appointment

    • Tell the clinician about medicines, implanted devices, previous surgery, filler or threads in the area, altered sensation, nerve conditions, active infection, pregnancy or breastfeeding.
    • Confirm the device, treatment depth and map, pain-control plan, and areas that should be avoided.

    After treatment

    • Use gentle skincare and sunscreen; avoid rubbing an area that is tender.
    • Follow the written plan for exercise, heat and combining other procedures; most routine activity may be possible, but your treatment map matters.
    • Attend review if the clinician schedules one to assess tenderness, sensation and symmetry.

    What may be expected

    • Transient redness, swelling, tenderness, tingling or altered sensation may occur.

    Contact us promptly

    • Contact the clinic for severe or unexpected pain, redness lasting beyond the advised period, localized swelling or welts, blistering, persistent numbness, asymmetry or facial weakness.

    1:1 follow-up

Before you leave, the team records your treatment, expected recovery, follow-up timing and direct contact path. A doctor reviews concerns when needed.
