Filler swelling typically peaks at 24-48 hours and resolves within 5-7 days. Lip fillers tend to swell more than cheek fillers. Most patients are presentable for social situations by day 3-4.
Thread lift swelling is more significant, peaking at day 2-3 and gradually resolving over 7-14 days. The face may appear fuller than the final result for the first week. Most patients are public-ready by day 5-7.
Device treatments like Ulthera and Thermage typically cause mild to moderate swelling lasting 1-3 days. Some patients experience minimal swelling and are public-ready the next day.
Allow at least 2 weeks before an important event for fillers, 3-4 weeks for thread lifts, and 1 week for device treatments. Always discuss your timeline during the consultation so Dr. Waleerat can plan accordingly.
Cold compresses are recommended for the first 48 hours to reduce swelling. After 48 hours, you can switch to warm compresses to promote circulation and healing. Never apply ice directly to skin — always wrap in a cloth.
Contact the clinic if swelling is severe and worsening after 48 hours, accompanied by intense pain or throbbing, localized to one side with redness and warmth (possible infection), or if you experience vision changes. These signs require immediate medical attention.
